| Our city is a
great place to live; yet I believe we have more to
accomplish. How can we make West Jordan better? Through
Leadership, Sustainability, and Community
Values. There are serious movements within our city that
will impact our progress. Our city considers a "storm drain fee"
while our citizens patiently await the Mountain View
Corridor to ease our gridlock -- our major corridors, 6200
South, 7000
South, 7800 South, and 9000 South, are at a standstill. We
need a new voice in West Jordan, someone who will voice out against
decisions leading to more gridlock and higher taxes! |

LEADERSHIP
- Fiscal Responsibility:
The existing tax rate provides sufficient funds to sustain the
current needs of our city. I will seek the most efficient
methods to conduct city business and enhance transparency in our
budget process.
- Financial
Preparedness: Our economic situation stresses the
importance of financial planning. I have successfully managed
private-business budgets up to $7.3 million. I will work hard to
identify ways to make our city more financially prepared.
- Responsive
Government: I will maintain an open-ear policy and
will not ignore public requests. I will be accountable to our
citizens. I will fight to to
make our community safer and healthier by supporting fire,
police, and public works improvements, without infringing on
individual rights.

SUSTAINABILITY
- Fair
Taxation: I support fair taxation. Municipal taxes
are intended to provide for our needs (public safety and public
works) and other services that are desired by the local
community, such as parks, the arts, and historical preservation.
- Balanced Growth:
Within
10 to 20 years West Jordan is expected to be the 2nd or 3rd most
populous city in the state. This growth rate demands effective
planning now. I will strive to support the city's general plan to locate denser
residential and large commercial areas near
the major corridors of the city, while we place lower density
residential and commercial areas and open space throughout the
remainder of the city.
- Alleviate
East/West Congestion: I will press hard to ensure we
focus resources to provide adequate transportation services.
Commuting through our city has progressed in recent years;
however east-west services remain deficient. I know we can do
better!

COMMUNITY VALUES
- "Buy in West
Jordan": Our city can
increase revenues without raising taxes by promoting
additional purchases within our city boundaries. By
buying locally over .5% of each purchase can directly
contribute to our city's services.
-
Community Involvement:
Our neighborhoods are the pride of our community. I support the adoption of the Adopt-a-Road program in
West Jordan as a means of elevating the
beauty of our city! Citizens of our community can get
more involved in city committees and contacting their
representatives with ideas, resulting in more-informed
decisions by the City Council. I welcome more active
participation!
- Energy & Water
Conservation:
Our city must be an example to our community by
incorporating more energy alternatives and water
conservation areas. Likewise, our city should continue
adopting environmentally-friendly city ordinances that
promote solar, wind, and thermal technologies in both
residential and commercial applications.
